Please note the great features in our new meeting venue:
At the ibis Hotel Melbourne we have our informal Networking Session, and the Huddles Session, in the same large room as the bar (from where you can purchase drinks), and also the presentation area for our Guest Speaker presentations.
December meeting Networking specialities:
In this much better venue the Networking Session (and Huddles) will give you the opportunity to make new friendships with like-minded colleagues, to help you build your skills and knowledge and to improve your trading / investing results. Of course, you will also be able to network with your existing friends and colleagues and talk about the markets — both past market performance and where the market might be going to in the near future.
Visitors are welcome. First visit free, subsequent visits $40.

7:05 to 8:00 pm: Guest Speaker: David Chia - Fund Manager
Topic: 2017 - A Year in Review
Trading is not unlike many other sporting or professional pursuits & endeavours we take on in life, in that a great deal of time is spent in the actual doing. I consider it vital that time is set aside to assess how effective one has been and whether there are bits of the process you would amend or discard or even emphasize all the more.
The opportunity to look over not just your equity curve but your process and yourself, how well you implemented, what lessons were learnt – these are all necessary stepping stones to ensure a more enjoyable and profitable engagement for the year ahead.
I would like to share with you some of the key revelations I had in running a global unconstrained long-only equity mandate. Regardless of what or how you trade, perhaps you may gleam from my trials and tribulations, some gems to take away for yourself.
David believes he shares much with the English physicist and mathematician, Isaac Newton, in discovering the existence of gravity. His own enlightenment came in 1987, a year after commencing his career in trading financial markets. He has since that time, devoted his life to the pursuit of knowledge in trying to understand, wrestle with and get beaten up by equities, bonds and derivatives. With 30 years of trading for clients at many of the larger investment firms around the world, he set up in 2017, an asset management business focused on a long-only global unconstrained basis.
David is 61 and is passionate about financial education and a regular speaker in the community; loves b&w photography; is an advocate for personal development and men’s health and relishing the unique joy that comes from family.
