Mike currently manages and advises a large sophisticated and retail book of clients and has been trading markets for approx. 18 years.
Mike studied Chemistry at university before moving to Australia. My first Job in Australia was at CBA in Market Risk, where he was tasked with overseeing the Margin Lending book which consisted of $5 Billion dollars of loans against various ASX listed companies.
After spending a number of years in this role Mike transitioned into a more hands on trading position managing client funds at Capital 19. Capital 19 is an expert in trading global stocks and options with a focus on the US.
For the past 5 years he has been focusing on generating income from trading options. My yearly returns for this period have been 15-25% pa.
It’s these option strategies he plans to share with the ATAA during this meeting.
6:40 pm Break (and last minute dinner orders)
6:45 pm: Guest Speaker: Greg Tolpigin – Head of Proprietary Trading and former ATAA Treasurer
Topic: “Creating Wealth From Trading, Not Just Income”
Only 5% of traders make money, but the vast majority of this group only make enough to pay their costs and earn a modest income. Only a very small few create significant amounts of wealth from trading. So what does it take to be able to make that transition? Skill, analysis, consistency, confidence? Greg will run through his processes, analysis, trading strategies and insights that help him continually improve his skills and returns. Greg is in the process of completing a detailed book of his trading knowledge and this will be a rare insight into all areas of the trading business and why so many fail.
Gregory Tolpigin is currently the Head of Proprietary Trading at Global Prime and Gleneagle Securities where his team trade all asset classes and instruments across the globe. He is regarded as one of the most successful proprietary traders in the country with an exceptional trading record, having only recorded three losing quarters over a 15-year trading career. Prior to this he ran his own hedge fund and advisory business, that included many of the international investment banks as clients and investors. He has held trading and strategist roles with Macquarie Bank, Bankers Trust and Citigroup during his 23 year career. He has been a guest columnist for the Australian Financial Review and a former ATAA Treasurer.
