6:00pm: Member Speaker: Robert Brain – Private Trader & Educator
Topic: Follow My Trade? — This is trading in practise!"

Please note! — The two front rows of seats in the auditorium will be reserved for hands-on participants using a “Trading Work Sheet” in this session (limited copies available on the day, or you can download a copy now from Brainy's Share Market Toolbox home page “Toolbox Latest News” section).

When placing a trade to buy a parcel of shares, it is very interesting to note the different views people have about how to minimise risk and maximise profit — ie. where to set the Stop Loss, and how to set the Position Size, and other money/risk management considerations.

In this short hands-on workshop we will view a standard trade set-up situation on a price chart in December 2008, and we will discuss the possible options for: Initial Stop Loss position, Amount at Risk, Price Target, Potential Reward, Reward/Risk Ratio, Position Size and Trailing Stop. To manage the discussion, only the people seated in the first row of the auditorium will be participating in the discussion, and others will be able to listen in and take notes. The two front rows will be permitted to consult with colleagues sitting next to them (like a team) to compete against others in the room, and to share their views and experience.

If time permits, we will follow the development of this trade over time using ideal money management parameters for maximum profit, and study the options for Trailing Stop, and look at the best way to manage this particular trade.

Robert Brain has many years of professional experience in both Engineering and IT and a several years’ experience in the share market. A few years ago Robert decided to combine his then casual interest in the share market with his extensive experience as an educator to develop his web-based Share Market Toolbox business to help investors and traders to refine their own strategies, and learn about the strategies of others. Robert is a private trader and educator, an ATAA Councillor in the Melbourne Chapter, and a Director on the National ATAA Board. Robert also runs 1-day Technical Analysis seminars.
