ATAA Brisbane Chapter Face-to-Face Meeting - Saturday, 4 December 2021 at 9:00 am.

9:00 - 9:30: Meet and greet with tea & coffee

9:30 - 9:45: Welcome and Introduction

9:45:00 - 12:30: Diversified Systematic Trading by David Walker

Systematic trading (also known as rules based trading) allows traders to make trades according to specific rules for trade entries, exits and position sizes. Rules based trading can have the advantage of removing emotions from trade decision making, and providing a backtested basis for trading. It can also take advantage of computer power to evaluate and maintain a larger number of trades than would normally be possible by a human trader.

Systems can be developed, tested and combined to take advantage of a wide range of trading ideas. This presentation will provide an overview of a Diversified Systematic Trading method. Diversification is achieved by combining multiple non-correlated rules-based trading systems. The trading systems include long, short, trend-following and mean reversion systems.

The presentation will cover:
• An overview of rules-based trading
• Details of the 6 trading systems
• Backtesting of both individual and combined systems

Backtesting will show the combined system promises a robust system that can operate profitably in bull and bear markets and outperforms the market indexes.

David completed a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Chemistry in 1994 and has worked as an industrial chemist, a minister, and a GM at a technical services business. His first exposure to trading was participating in the Suncorp IPO in the 90’s and has been developing automated trading since 2019. He currently trades the Diversified Systematic Trading system he will present.

David is a member of the Brisbane chapter.
