6.45 pm to 8.00 pm – GUEST SPEAKER:
Darryl Nagel – Educator and Private Trader
Topic: “Loss aversion, decisions and emotions – a quantitative perspective.”
Darryl will build on the presentation given last month by our National President, Jim Haralambidis, who provided a superb presentation. You can revisit Jim’s presentation in the resources section of the ATAA website.
The challenge for all traders is to make the “right” decision, how to deal with losses and accompanying emotions. What if the market makes the decisions for us? What if instead of managing our adverse trading emotions we use them to understand our trading mindset? Perhaps our emotions become our best “indicator”?
Darryl has gained insights into these concepts having worked closely with a substantial number of traders since 2003.
Profile
Darryl Nagel has been investing and trading since 1986. He trading journey started with call options over BHP shares and has included virtually all trading instruments. Elliott Vave theories led to learning and teaching Gann methodology. He taught the use of CFDs when first introduced into Australia from the UK. His first presentation to the ATAA was in 1996, about the psychology of trading. A copy of that presentation is available on the ATAA website.
Darryl worked for three education companies in Australia and overseas, teaching strategies using CFDs, shares, forex, options, and futures. He has his own education organisation teaching various trading psychology methods.
