Meeting Agenda:

5.15 pm - 6 pm – Informal networking (including finger food)

6 pm to 6:05 pm – MEETING OPENING, INTRODUCTION and HOUSEKEEPING

6.05 pm to 6.40 pm – MEMBER SPEAKER

Robert Brain – Private Trader, Educator and Nimble Short-Term Investor

Topic:  "Should I have bought this stock?"

In this session Robert will show a price chart for a security (a stock, or ETF or whatever), with the last four weeks of price data hidden.  And he will ask you this question: “Should I have bought this security a month ago?”  Robert can add a chart indicator to the chart, and show you the daily, or weekly, or monthly price data.  We can view a candle chart, or line chart, or HLC chart, or whatever – that’s your call during the meeting.  After some discussion, and some sharing of opinions, Robert will display the stock performance over the last four weeks so as to reveal whether we should have, or should not have, bought this stock.  In this session you will have two opportunities: (1) to show us how good your stock-picking is, and (2) the opportunity to pick up some tips from others about stock-picking.  To give you a clue, we might use a security from the S&P/ASX 300 (XKO) index to help guarantee liquidity.

About Robert Brain

Robert has been studying the many aspects of technical analysis since 2006, and he is convinced that the share market price charts summarise the underlying opinions and emotions of the real market participants, and that every price chart tells a story. He also believes that Price Action Context is very relevant, and that Nimble Short-Term Investing is the way to go.

A few years ago, Robert decided to combine his then casual interest in the share market with his extensive experience as an educator to develop his web-based Share Market Toolbox business to help investors and traders to refine their own strategies, and learn about the strategies of others. Robert is a private trader and educator, and an ATAA Councillor in the Melbourne Chapter. He also runs the Australian BullCharts (charting software) User Group with monthly Melbourne meetings and online webinar sessions.
