Canberra Chapter 2024
We aim to hold a mix of In-Person, Hybrid (In Person and Zoom), one day and interest group meetings for Canberra and District members throughout the year.
Managed Fund System Vs Individual Members Share Portfolio Competition
An idea was put to the Committee that we create a managed fund that can be changed by those present at meetings. This managed fund will then compete against individual member’s share selection. If there are only a handful of share selections, we still have a competition.
The very liberal rules of Individual share selection will be provided on the night including the choice of automated optimal stop losses and entries at any time of the month. TA of your selection would be educational for the group and welcomed.
Managed fund criteria will be the summation of performance of two leading sector (RRG) shares, one x bitcoin ETF, one x short or long XJO (based on Bruce’s presentation), three ASX shares, one cash (Macquarie notes or Bonds).
Presentation – Some Trading Strategies for 2024 - Chris Meakin
Following the discussion at the Christmas meeting, it was suggested the chapter follow three different trading strategies, as a learning exercise, throughout 2024.
The three strategies offered are:
1. Dogs of the Dow ASX
2. A 52 week high
3. A version of Ray Dalio’s All Weather Portfolio (AWP)
Chris Meakin will manage the AWP. In February he will present a background on Ray Dalio and the original AWP, as well as two different, simpler versions. Chris will explain in more detail his preferred version (of the two) and showcase one method of how to monitor the performance of the strategy in real time.
All members are welcome to join us and participate in selections for the Chapter Managed Fund and their individual share selections to beat the fund.
