Topic: Trading with The Use of Combination Plays or "Layering"
Join us for an insightful session on “Trading with The Use of Combination Plays or ‘Layering’” — a practical approach to combining multiple sources of evidence to identify early-stage trend opportunities.
Brent Robinson, a “weight of evidence” advocate, will share how he uses moving averages, momentum, and scans to discover high-momentum stocks and answer questions like:
?? Can you really buy stocks in the overbought RSI zone?
?? How can you layer different tools to improve trade decisions?
Presenter: Brent Robinson
With a 20 year background in exploration of financial market analysis and building technical trading systems, Brent is passionate about understanding and applying weekly momentum based systems to maximise trading performance.
Projects undertaken using technical analysis and market specific algorithms include:
- Barometer which indicates market sentiment. Understanding whether market is optimistic (Risk On) or pessimistic (Risk Off) means knowing level of current trading risk.
- Ranking system to measure sector or industry trend strength.
- Report which generates list of optimum trading candidates each week (using subset of stocks that meet specific criteria).
- Defined momentum based chart patterns which are ranked in preference order. Each chart on stock report is evaluated to see whether one of these patterns applies.
- Developed a primarily mechanical exit strategy.
Brent focuses on the ASX but the toolkit and trading system could be applied to any market. Brent’s technical-based system focuses on weekly sweeps of the ASX stocks, sectors, commodities and market indices. Formerly, Brent led the technology services team for his own software company and managing key customer relationships following a career in banking, software sales and supply chain management.
