The Sydney Chapter of the ATAA invites members to attend our second Sydney TA Chat Group meeting on Saturday, 2 September  2017, at Bondi Junction.

We will continue with our Case Study of developing our Model Portfolio using a Rotational Trading System.  Our "Meet the Member" segment will feature Geoff Lovelock.  Our second Case Study which usually covers a specilised topic will be replaced with a presentation on "A Guide to Back-testing - Part 1".

It is the data we receive from our back-testing results which enables us to make a well-informed assessment on the suitability of the Trading System or Trading ideas for our requirements. This presentation will run over three to four meetings, and will include topics such as:

Profitability – does it meet our expectations? Should we be maximising our Profit potential, or should we consider reducing our profit, if we can reduce risk at the same time?

Risk expectations, like when the markets turn against us and we suffer from Drawdowns and runs of consecutive losing trades. When our Trading System is under stress, can we ourselves, cope with that stress?

Administration effort - we will look at how much management time we estimate that this Trading System will take? If we do not have the available time to properly manage our Trading System, the results will suffer.

Technical capabilities – Do I have the appropriate knowledge and expertise to manage the Trading System?

Back-testing is all about intimately knowing what to expect from your Trading System, and being prepared for normal cycles we expect will occur over time.

Our meeting will still include our usual audience participation “Chart Analysis” discussion, so please come along prepared with a ticker symbol for a Stock or ETF for group review, feedback and comment.

Whether you are very experienced at Technical Analysis or just setting out on your Technical Analysis journey, you can learn and benefit from listening to other members’ ideas and experiences. We hope that every member learns something new from the day that they can take home for further research or experimentation.
