Thursday 15 September 2016 5:45pm for 6:15pm
6:15pm: Welcome and Announcements
6:20pm: David Barnes and Don Odgers - How to use technical analysis to manage your positions in today’s tricky market
The first half of 2016 has produced some of the most testing conditions stock market investors have had to face since the global financial crisis. And with the prospect of ongoing instability, issues such as risk management, when to take insurance on a position and when to release it are matters that occupy the minds of most investors at this time. Combine this with the question of when a blue chip stock that has fallen ‘through the floor’ actually offers real value, and you have the ingredients of this presentation. You will be taken through some real time scenarios using current data in a thorough demonstration. You will be shown how the use of technical analysis can help you manage your positions more effectively - even in the market conditions we are currently experiencing.
David Barnes and Don Odgers are arguably two of the best known educators of technical analysis in Western Australia, having jointly conducted the course in Technical Analysis at Canning College in Bentley for many years – David since 1998 and Don since 2004. They frequently conduct training courses in Technical Analysis in most East Coast cities and from time to time contribute articles on various aspects of this discipline in independent national newsletters and magazines. Both are experienced investors as opposed to theoretical instructors, and each is “in the market” on a day by day basis using the techniques they teach to generate the funds that provide them with their lifestyle choices. Both are highly disciplined in their individual approach to technical analysis and employ strict risk management techniques.
