7:00pm: Alan Clement - What I've Learned From 15 Years in the Trading Business
Having lived, breathed and earned a living from trading the markets over the last 15 years, Alan will share many of the insights he has gained from his experience. His talk will cover such areas as motivation, how markets work, momentum and mean reversion trading, risk management, and having a winning mindset. With many detailed examples and even a few trade ideas, Alan will take us on a journey from beginning to full-time independent professional. Whether you're an experienced trader or just starting out, you're sure to uncover a few trading gems in this presentation to take away and try yourself.
8:15pm: Coffee break
8:30pm: Alan Clement - How to Beat the Benchmark with Ease
Alan will draw on some of the lessons learned in the first presentation to demonstrate how we can use quantitative analysis to build very simple models that can easily beat our benchmark. If you've always thought systematic trading is difficult or complex, then think again. Alan will demonstrate how anyone with a basic understanding of Excel can put together a set of rules that can easily outperform a buy & hold strategy. Using a step-by-step approach he'll build towards a strategy that has performed consistently well over the last 10 years through ever changing market conditions. The strategies demonstrated will be fully exposed for you to take away and try in your own environment. If you've never been introduced to quantitative analysis before, this is the perfect primer that will aim to demonstrate why this approach can often be superior to a discretionary view.
