How to attend this meeting:

All attendees are required to register for this event. The meeting is free to financial members of the ATAA. Non-members attending face to face or online are welcome with payment of a $30.00 visitor fee to be paid before the meeting.

Face to face meeting venue:

The Henry Carmichael Theatre, 1st Floor 280 Pitt Street (Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts) - located a short walk from Town Hall train station and from George Street light rail stops. Night rates apply at nearby parking stations from 5 pm onwards.

6.10 pm to 6.30 pm – Mary McNamara - A deep dive into the financial markets including the ASX200

6.30 pm to 8.00 pm – Alan Clement - in person -Trading The Mayhem.

When markets turn more volatile, as they have lately, trend following strategies tend to suffer with drawdowns, with trades being stopped out, and a fall in win rate. One way to alleviate that is to trade companion strategies which thrive in volatile times.

 In this presentation, Alan will discuss the approach of inefficiency targeting when compiling your portfolio of strategies. He'll take a look at the types of trades that do well in volatile times, and how we can use that research to construct a quantitative strategy to target such an environment.

Alan will also highlight the benefits of trading complimentary strategies can have on reducing the overall volatility of returns in your account. Using a systematic approach throughout and sharing results of specific ideas, this presentation will be sure to provide you with a wealth of research ideas to take away and try.

Alan Clement is a trading strategy designer and independent trader with almost 30 years’ experience in the financial industry.

Following a successful professional career in both investment management and investment banking, he now manages his own independent trading business. He is also an international speaker on evidence-based trading approaches.

His main focus is the design and development of quantitative trading strategies that trade multiple markets. Alan is an IFTA Certified Financial Technician (CFTe) and former National Director of the Australian Technical Analysts Association. 8.00 pm onwards - Members and visitors are invited to a superb dining and network experience at our dining venue called “The Castlereagh”, 199 Castlereagh Street Sydney, just a short walk from the meeting venue and near the corner of Park Street. You don’t need to be a member of the City Tatts Club is gain entry although members of that Club gain a discount on the meals.
