This presentation will be a free-form chart walk-through session. Rauno’s work is focused on long-only Australian stocks, using Metastock to execute some of the filtering and to provide the charts. Intended topics include; price action, volatility, chart/analytical timeframes, flag patterns, spike and channel patterns, pattern failures, breakout setup structures, importance (or not) of “good” entry signals, and the balance and trade-offs between risk, reward and probability.
Biography - Rauno Tolonen
Rauno’s interest in trading and investing began in Economics class in high school in the 1980’s and was maintained, on and off, through a failed attempt at an Engineering degree, and successful attempts at a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business in the 1990’s. His interest was also carried through, while working in accounting and managerial roles in a minerals chemical assay business and in public practice accounting. Rauno has been a member of the ATAA since 2007, successfully trend-followed some stocks through 2002-2008, successfully shorted an XJO index position with options in September/October 2008 but also maintained that bearish outlook for far too long. Some of what Rauno is doing now in his trading life will be shown during the presentation.
