January 2018 Meeting of the ATAA Remote Chapter


Remote Chapter Objectives 

   To provide regional and overseas members with the valuable resource and the networking of a chapter meeting.

Webinar (internet-based) Meetings: 

  • This Remote Chapter will operate similarly to other chapters although it is envisaged that most meetings will be online with the possibility of having an occasional face-face meeting if attendance warrants it.
  • Although first preference will be given to regional members if numbers permit anyfinancial ATAA member will be welcome to attend. 
  • It is envisaged that meetings will be held on a monthly cycle.
  • The meetings will be recorded (presentation slides and audio) and will be available for members to accessand review

Grant Abbott - Self Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF)

Grant has Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws (specialising in International business and taxation) degrees from the University of Sydney.

His roles include: Tax Research Director at the Taxation Institute of Australia.

                           Tax manager in wealth management and superannuation at KPMG.

                            Superannuation manager at Rothschild.

                            Business providing advice and training to financial planners and accountants.

                            Written four SMSF books.

                           Trained more than 600 professionals to become specialist SMSF advisers.       

                            In 2001 founded the SMSF Association.

                            In 2011 founded the Australian SMSF Members Association.

                            Advised financial institutions including Westpac, NAB, ANZ, MLC, AMP, TAL,

                            Citibank, investment product providers including BT, Macquarie, Barclays,

                            State Street, Vanguard, ASX and advisory groups including Hillross,

                            Pattersons, AMP, Sentry, Count and Countplus.
